Every now and then I will take inventory of our pantry and start compiling different ingredients for snack mix combinations. It is always a hit in our house and a good way to use up cereal, nuts, raisins, candy etc. Plus it’s much cheaper than what you buy at the store. It makes for the perfect snack and can be customized based on what you already have on hand.
We have spent the majority of the past week in the mountains soaking up some beautiful fall weather. It was absolutely wonderful. Like I mentioned before I love all things fall and there is no better way to experience all of my favorite things than in the Carolina mountains. Before we left I took this opportunity to make a seasonal snack mix adapted from this recipe that I pinned a while back on pinterest.
This sweet and salty mix is a fun and easy snack for all ages to enjoy. It is so very good but oh so addicting so consider this your warning. It makes an excellent gift for teachers, neighbors and friends and the perfect way to get rid of leftover Halloween candy.
My recipe is based on the measurements that I used but feel free to add more or less of each ingredient based on your families preference.
- 2 cups unsalted dry Roasted peanuts
- 11oz.bag Autumn mix candy (candy corn mix)
- 1 cup butterscotch morsels
- 2 cups Oatmeal squares with brown sugar
- 2 cups chocolate Chex mix cereal
- 1½ cups dried cranberries
- Pour ingredients into a large bowl, mixing till well combined.
