Hi my name is Allie and I have a nut butter obsession.
In fact everyone in our house loves any type of nut butter and it’s very much normal to see almond butter, peanut butter (plain and crunchy), sunflower seed butter, and others open in our house at the same time. Wait, this isn’t normal for everyone?
I knew making your own nut butter was easy but I didn’t realize just how easy until this recipe. Very few ingredients are needed, in fact you can just use pecans (or another nut) and maybe a little salt and call it a day. I chose to fancy this pecan butter up a little by sweetening it with a touch of honey and finishing it off with a dash of cinnamon and sea salt.
Toasting the pecans gives the nuts an intense flavor and makes them more fragrant. Once the pecans have toasted add them to a food processor and process till smooth and creamy. At this time add in the honey, cinnamon and sea salt, blend again, and you have this luscious and delicious spread.
This honey pecan butter will take your breakfast to a whole new level. It’s also a perfect spread for apple slices, added into a yogurt bowl or you can simply eat it straight from the spoon. No judging here.
- 2 cups Raw Pecans
- 1 tablespoon honey
- ¼ teaspoon sea salt
- dash cinnamon
- Pour pecans in a large skillet and toast, stirring often, over medium heat till lightly brown 4-8 minutes
- Pour toasted pecans in a food processor and blend for approximately 10 minutes. Scrape down sides of bowl as needed.
- Add sea salt, cinnamon and honey. Blend again, taste, and add more salt or cinnamon if needed
- Pour into a glass jar with a lid and store in the refrigerator.
