Favorite Family Friendly Restaurants inCharlotte

This is my second post for the #DesignCharlotte program, an influencer campaign for the Marriott Charlotte City hotel. The hotel is currently undergoing a major transformation and  encouraging guests and influencers to show off our amazing city by featuring  some of our favorite hot spots of Charlotte.  In the first post I mentioned my top five favorite date night restaurants and today I’m talking about my top five favorite restaurants we like to go to as a family.

1. The MayobirdThe Mayobird is known for their chicken salad and they have 15 different flavor combinations on their menu. They use free range chicken, and the breads are made fresh daily from a local bread shop. There are other items on the menu such as chicken pot pie, pimento cheese and my daughters favorite, the grilled cheese, just to name a few. Breakfast is offered daily along with a full coffee bar located inside. My husband and I, who both love chicken salad, are able to go and choose from the wide variety of flavors while our two year old gets her grilled cheese and fruit cup while stealing bites of chicken salad. Her little taste buds are starting to see what the goodness is all about. Mayobird offers a cozy environment inside with wooden tables and couches provided for seating. They also offer seating on the patio outside, which is always packed when the weather is nice.

2. The Cowfish– The Cowfish offers something for everyone from burgers to sushi, to salads and homemade desserts. Items from the kids menu come in bento style boxes and its one of the few times I can get my daughter excited about eating her vegetables. In this case edamame. There’s no other place I know of that offers “Burgushi”, sushi rolls created using burger components. If you can’t make up your mind on what to order, which can easily happen here, try a bento box to sample a mini-burger, sushi roll and three tasty side items. Cowfish offers a bright interior, an aquarium filled with fish and a large outdoor covered patio that is also heated in the colder months. We mostly go to Cowfish for lunch since dinner time almost always has a long wait, understandably so.

3. Pizza Peel– My husband would most definitely claim this one as his number 1 favorite spot on this list. This local pizza joint offers a wide selection of craft beers and a unique menu from pizza and wings to fish tacos, pastas and salads. It has that friendly neighborhood vibe and many nights they offer live music and entertainment and activities for kids. The food is good, the staff is friendly and every time we go (which is A LOT) we all leave feeling like we had a fun and relaxing dinner out. That’s definitely not always the case when dining out with a toddler.

4. Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar
The place where you can have the ultimate American dish made a thousand ways. Bad Daddy’s offers a variety of burger combinations along with an assortment of protein options such as beef, chicken, bison, turkey and my personal favorite, the veggie burger. They also offer giant chopped salads and if nothing grabs you from the menu you can choose to build your own burger or salad. My husband and I have been going here since it opened and we still go often for lunch or a casual dinner with our little girl. When the burger craving hits this is the place to go.

Wolfgang Puck Pizza Bar

Don’t let the pizza bar part fool you as they offer plenty of other options such gourmet salads, sandwiches, pasta dishes and a few entree’s. Wolfgang Pucks Pizza Bar has a comfortable and rustic atmosphere with some what of an upscale feel if your looking for something a little nicer. We’ve gone here for a night out with friends and then again as a family and it’s a great spot for both occasions.
