Apple Crumb Cake with Apple Cider Glaze

Have you all recovered from Halloween yet? We’ve been dragging a bit over here today but it was definitely worth it after a fun and memorable day. This was our first Halloween in our new house and we had so much fun celebrating with our neighbors at a black party before the trick-or-treating began. For me, Halloween marks the beginning of the holiday season and I love this time of year as we approach Thanksgiving and Christmas. It also means warm fires, hot cider, sweatshirts, cozy socks and anything else that makes this season so cozy and wonderful. This apple crumb cake with apple cider glaze certainly falls into that category as well.

Oat flour has become my number one flour for baking these days, and let’s just say I’ve been doing my fair share of baking lately. Tis the season, right? Oat flour is healthy with a lighter texture and sweeter taste than other flours. This cake is dairy-free and can be made gluten-free as well by using gluten-free oats. A rich and buttery crumb topping makes up the top layer and its finished off with a sweet apple cider glaze.

Spiced with cinnamon and apples, this crumb cake is simply perfect for fall. It can be enjoyed anytime of day whether it be for breakfast, dessert or as a mid day treat with a hot cup of coffee, tea or even cider. It represents what fall baking is all about and nothing says warm and cozy like the smell of cinnamon and spiced apples coming from the kitchen.
