This past year on my birthday I shared with you all 34 Things I hoped to do and/or accomplish throughout my 34th year. Now that we are at the half way point I thought it would be fun to look back at the list and see how I’m doing….A little hint. I have quite a bit of work to do.

1. Travel somewhere new.
We went to Bald Head Island, which was new for me and the kids.

2. Take a family trip.
We are leaving for Disney World in just a few weeks

3. Try Stand-Up Paddle Boarding
Not Yet

4. Sign up for a race
Since I’ve been dealing with back and neck issues for the past few months sadly this has been put on the back burner. Right now my main focus is giving my body time to heal and maybe (hopefully) building up some running miles soon enough.

5. Have more girls nights
YES!
I’ve also been meeting up with two of my best friends for lunch every few weeks (without kids)

6. Read a classic Novel
I started Pride and Prejudice but haven’t picked it back up for a few months. Does that count?

7. Organize all my pictures, frames around the house and photo books
I used to be so good at this but it has gotten out of control. I have loose pictures all over the house and unfinished photo books that need to be filled.
Still a work in progress.

8. On that note: Finish/update Scottie and Parker’s baby books
I’ve been working on them but they are not complete.

9. Have a date night once a month
October until after Christmas was completely crazy around here with the holidays and Jason’s work schedule. Date nights were completely non existent but since the New Year it’s a top priority for both of us. Even if it means we wait until the kids have gone to bed before we sit down to a nice meal at home with a bottle of wine. We did make it out for a date night in January and already have one on the books for this month.

10. Make my own cold brew coffee
No. My sister-n-law even got us a kit and I still have not

11. Take an online course to get a certification.
This is something I’ve been thinking about for years and have recently started looking at options. I want to do something health and wellness related and any feed back or experience anyone may have is greatly appreciated.
No but I think I found the one I want to do and it starts in the Fall.

12. Finish Decorating our living room and master bedroom
Since we moved last December our house has been a work in progress. We decided early on that we would take it room by room and these are the ones I want to focus on next.
Living Room: Almost there
Master: It still looks the same

13. Complete the outdoor living space in the backyard.
Speaking of house projects, this is a big one but one we are looking forward to the most. Hopefully we can have it done by the spring time.
It’s happening right now. The contractor hopes to have it done within the month

14. Try one new recipe a week.
I think so. Some weeks more than one so I feel like this makes up for any weeks I might have missed.

15. Go on a hike
We have so many new to us trails we want to try in the mountains so hopefully we can get at least one of those knocked off our list.
No but will hopefully knock this off the list come Spring.

16. Binge watch Netflix
I know this may sound confusing but give me a second to explain. I never watch TV anymore and the truth is, I miss it. Before Parker was born, TV watching (specifically Netflix) was my way of relaxing once I got Scottie to bed. These days, once I get both kids in the bed I’m either getting things done around the house or just going to bed myself. Parker isn’t the best sleeper and I’m still waking up several times a night with him so right now I take any opportunity I can to get some shut eye. I realize right now this is the season of life that I’m in (and more than happy with that) but I’m hoping to find that downtime soon enough to finish or get caught up on some of the many shows I’ve started.
I binged watched The Gilmore Girls Revival but that’s about it. It’s not Netflix but I haven’t missed an episode of This Is Us. I love that show. Anyway,  I’m still way behind on this one

17. Get back into a regular habit of sitting down each morning with coffee and a devotional.
Still not every morning. I got a new devotional for Christmas but I haven’t been keeping up with it every day.

18. Go out to brunch
Not yet: This truly isn’t a hard task just not something we do much

19. Go snow skiing
It’s been years since I’ve done this
nope and probably won’t be happening this year

20. Try cross country skiing
Nope and again this will have to be another goal for next year

21.Try one new restaurant a month
I’ve certainly been trying to. I don’t know if it’s been every month. There are a lot I want to try so I will have to do better on this one.

22. Go to the movies
I’m not much of a movie person so this will make my movie-loving husband very happy. In the seven years we’ve been together we have only been to one, which I’m reminded of often.
No. In fact I haven’t even watched a movie at home. I’m lame

23. Try a new to me cuisine or food
I know I haven’t tried a new cuisine and I can’t think of any new foods so I will have to say no for this.

24. Eat breakfast in bed
Read wake up and feel like I don’t have to hit the ground running.
No. Womp Womp..I may need to put a little bug in my husbands ear for this one.

25. Build a fort with Scottie
Yes, on a rainy day while trying to keep her entertained.

26. Visit a museum
Nope

27. Have a cooking challenge night with Jason.
We used to do this a lot as a stay-at-home date night and it was so much fun. Imagine Chopped, where we pick out each others “secret” ingredients.
No but my goodness we need to make this happen soon!

28. No social media for a day
I hate to even admit this needs to be a goal but its the truth
Sadly, no

29. Do an outdoor yoga class.
No but there is one at the top of the mountain where our cabin is that I’m hoping to catch this summer.

30. Perform a random act of kindness
Not yet

31. Add more weight training into my weekly workouts
Yes. I took a little break after I started having back issues but just recently started back again

32. Plant a garden (and have it actually grow)
Not yet but hoping to get started on one soon.

33. Join a cause as a family
Probably something along the lines of Helping with Hunger or children in need
No

34. Join a book club
Yes! I started one and we’ve been meeting one morning a month. This month we are reading Homegoing and it’s so good. It’s probably not something I would’ve picked up on my own which is one of the perks with starting a book club.

As someone who is constantly making list this has been fun for me to have my goals and things I want to accomplish laid out in front of me. Even if I don’t get everything checked off like I had hoped.
