We had a wonderful time celebrating the 4th of July this week, as well as last weekend with family and friends. Like I mentioned last week, we were in the mountains for the weekend and came back Monday to be home for the 4th. Growing up by a pool and spending summers working as a lifeguard Independence Day has always been spent swimming and playing with friends and family and it only feels right to keep that tradition going. With the holiday falling in the middle of the week I’ve been off all week as to what day it actually is. Tomorrow we leave for my families annual beach trip and I CAN. NOT. WAIT. It truly is one of my favorite weeks of the year. I have a million and one things to do to get ready for our trip so I’m keeping things short and sweet this week. Cheers to the weekend!

My friend and fellow book lover posted this book roundup for the books she’s read so far this year. Rachel and I are in the same book club and we’re always recommending books for each other. Speaking of book club we will be discussing this one this morning.
Last week I joined the board for a new local nonprofit organization called Families Forward Charlotte. The organization’s goal is to establish long-term stability for the children and families we serve. We will provide an essentials basket for families three times a year, book bags and school supplies in August, Christmas support, weekend food packs and personalized support several times a year for select families. Our 2017 Fundraising effort is officially underway. Visit www.familiesforwardcharlotte.
