Good morning and happy Friday. My daughter’s been awake for most of the night with a nasty cough so we are canceling all plans for the day and staying home to heal and rest. We have a fun weekend ahead with two birthday celebrations tomorrow and I know one little girl who will be heartbroken if she has to miss. One of the celebrations is for my dad, whose birthday was yesterday, so we’re having family over to spend the day. I feel like I have a lot to catch up on in this weeks post so lets dive right on in. Cheers to a healthy and happy weekend for all.

My friend Rachel and I headed to Davidson, NC (about 30 minutes from Charlotte) last Sunday night to meet Anne Bogel also known as Modern Mrs. Darcy and the creator of  What should I Read Next Podcast  We listened to her talk about her new book based on reading personalities and we left with a signed copy as well as a book based off our own personalities. It was a really fun evening and it made my book loving heart really happy.

I started listening to The girl with Seven Names over the summer but my Hoopla app ended up deleting the book before I could finish. I was really intrigued by the story so I finally picked up a copy from the library to finish on my own.  This is incredible story about living and eventually escaping North Korea. Its a story of loss, determination but most of all courage and I learned so much about this country through her story.

I’m finding myself drawn much more lately to non-fiction books and The Polygamist’s Daughter is another one that did not disappoint. I listened to the audio version narrated by the author herself. It’s the story of one girls journey to living and then leaving a polygamist cult. This life is unimaginable to me and there were many part of the book where my heart broke along side hers. It’s a great read and although there were hard parts to get through it’s also full of healing and hope.

It’s all things pumpkin right now and up next are these paleo pumpkin scones followed closely by these pumpkin pie brownies.

I’ve been making a lot of meatballs lately, mostly because my kids love them too, so I want to give these coconut milk meatballs a try.

This stuffed sweet potato is on point.

With the holiday season upon here’s some healthy holiday treats even your kids will eat.

I’ve been experimenting with different homemade gluten-free breads and I’m really loving the ingredient list for this one. Also it looks like it lives up to it’s name.
