Friday Favorites: 6/15/18

Good morning and happy Friday. I’m finding the weeks flying by lately as our days have been filled with all kinds of summer fun. Blogging has become especially hard lately but I’m still trying to write when I can.

Monday night I had the opportunity to attend a cooking class with other Charlotte area bloggers. The class was held by Heidi Billotto a North Carolina based culinary expert who writes about food and restaurants for regional magazines, newspapers, blogs & websites. Heidi has a wealth of knowledge on how to cook and eat fresh and local ingredients and I left her class with a long list of local markets to visit and companies who are doing great things. This is my second time attending a cooking class with Heidi and for all my local readers, I highly recommend checking one out.

I finished An American Marriage,  a complex and moving story about a young African-American couple with a bright future ahead of them. One night that all went away after an unfortunate crime happens and a finger is pointed, inaccurately, at the husband. I found this to be a thought provoking book about marriage written in a beautiful and insightful way.

I love book lists like that! I hadn’t heard of many of those books either so that’s fun! Also, I’ve heard a lot of people enjoyed An American Marriage, but I haven’t read it! Happy Weekend! 🙂
