Good morning friends. My daughter is on fall break today so we’re enjoying an extra day to our weekend. We have a soccer game tomorrow morning and plans tomorrow night but other than that I’m looking forward to a pretty low key weekend. I have a stack of books begging for my attention and I would love to make a decent dent in this one. Cheers to a cozy and somewhat relaxing weekend.
I recently started a 2-year, 4 semester bible study through Awaken Charlotte. We meet one morning a week and every time I walk out feeling inspired, refreshed and loved. This first study is on the book of Nehemiah, and I can’t begin to tell you the wisdom and little nuggets of information I am capturing from this book of the bible.
I finished listening to When Dimple Met Rishi on Hoopla this week. It’s a sweet YA novel and an easy listen if your looking for something lighthearted and fun. The strength of the story comes from its blending of Indian culture and values into a modern-day romance that many readers can relate to.
I also finished reading A Place For Us , which I found to be an absolutely beautiful novel. This is a moving, well-written family saga of identity, love, loss, and the struggle for spiritual connection. While I found the beginning to be somewhat complicated to read and rather slow, it quickly picked up and I’m still thinking of this family and the characters long after I’ve finished.
Some of our very dear friends are leaving in two weeks to pick up their baby girl who they are adopting from China. They’re selling these incredibly cute shirts to help with travel expenses but most importantly to advocate and spread the word about adoption. If you feel so inclined you can purchase one of their shirts or make a donation if T-Shirts aren’t your thing.
My friend brought these S’mores Bars to the family camp we went to last weekend with our church. They were such a hit with everyone and sadly I had to miss out. I’m saving the recipe so I can figure out a way to make them gluten-free.
