Welcome to Key Ingredients!
My name is Allie and I live in North Carolina with my husband, two kids and our little fur baby.Other than being a wife and a stay at home mom to two young kids I’m a foodie, yogi, reader, coffee fanatic and wine lover. I love anything and everything to do with nutrition, health and fitness. My knowledge and appreciation for these things constantly grows as I learn from and interact with like-minded bloggers. My journey with food and the skills I’ve acquired are due in large part to experimentation and putting my own personal touch on recipes I find. Key Ingredients represents the things in my life that make me the happiest. Although I mostly blog about food I will occasionally write about family, fitness, books and traveling. Forme, these are some of the key ingredients to living a positive and healthy lifestyle. Most of the recipes you will find here are healthy but I will occasionally throw in one that’s a bit more indulgent because I believe that life is all about balance.
Being active and working out is something I’ve been passionate about since high school but it wasn’t until after college that I really started cooking. As a wife and mom, I find so much pleasure in preparing healthy and delicious meals for my family to enjoy. I love the challenge of attempting a new dish and recreating others, especially some of my childhood favorites, in order to make them healthier.
Some of my favorite memories from my childhood are represented by food, whether it be gardening with my grandmother and experiencing the burst of flavor from a freshly picked ripe tomato, or the feeling of comfort for my mom’s spaghetti and the aroma from the sauce as it simmers all day on the stove. To me, food is an expression of love and my childhood is a tapestry of memories around the table as we shared laughter, joy and sometimes even tears. My hope is to give my children that same feeling and that Key Ingredients will contribute to the richness of your own personal journey as well.
