Good morning and happy Friday. We have a busy but fun weekend ahead so I’m sitting here slowly sipping my coffee before the craziness begins. I’m taking the kids apple picking after school today. I plan on putting some to good use in one of these recipes but I’m open to other ideas if you have any. Other than that we have a date night planned, a soccer game, cookout with friends and football on Sunday. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
My little chef dressed up for community day at school
The highlight from the week was seeing Reese Witherspoon at her Whiskey in a Teacup book tour Wednesday night. As a long time fan of hers (who isn’t right?) my girlfriend and I bought tickets for the event the day they went on sale. The book is everything I could possibly want in a book with Reese sharing her favorite Southern traditions, including recipes from her grandmother. I could’ve listened to Reese talk for hours and hours with her silly humor and southern voice.
While we were trapped inside last weekend due to tropical storm Florence I was able to read the majority of this book during that time. Pachinko spans several generations with a rich, cultural look into Japanese and Korean history. While that may not sound interesting, there’s lots of family drama, and the characters are very relatable. Once I got into the story I could not put this book down.
Lentil tortillas for the win.
Clearly I’m still holding on to summer….Or at least its produce .
