Spaghetti with Meat Sauce

  • 1 lb. ground turkey or lean ground beef
  • 2- 24oz. jars all natural marinara sauce (I used Alessi)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1- 8oz container sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • ½ tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 box whole wheat spaghetti noodles, cooked
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese (optional)
  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan and add in the chopped onion, allow to cook 2-3 minutes. Add in the ground turkey, cooking until the meat is browned. Remove from heat.
  2. In a large pot pour in the marinara sauce, mushrooms, basil, oregano, Worcestershire sauce salt and pepper. Add in the cooked ground meat.
  3. Allow the sauce to simmer for an 1½ to 2 hours (longer if you can), stirring occasionally. Taste and adjust spices as needed.The longer the sauce simmers the better it will taste.
  4. Add sauce over whole wheat spaghetti noodles. Top with Parmesan cheese (optional).
